First Student bus workers in Jacksonville, Florida voted more than a 10-to-1 margin to join Teamsters Local 512, adding 1,055 workers to a growing movement of private school bus and transit workers who are turning to the Teamsters for Union representation. |

"I am proud of the Jacksonville First Student workers who took a stand for a better workplace," said Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa." |
The drivers, mechanics, aides, attendants and lot workers came together seeking many improvements to their working conditions, including affordable benefits, fair wages and respect on the job. "These workers should be proud of the efforts, strength and unity they've shown throughout the organizing campaign," said Jim Shurling, President of Local Union 512. "We proudly welcome these brothers and sisters into the Teamsters." |
